Jan 15, 2004- Retrieval. Julie produced a whooping 27 eggs! The doctors were amazed with the numbers. January 17, 2004--17 fertilized and reached 2 p (2 pronuclie zygote). 7 will be frozen at 2 pp. 10 will go on to continue growth for insemination. January 20, 2004-- We had 3 embryos reach 5 days, which are considered a blastocyte stage and really difficult to reach. This gives the baby a better chance to cling on! So today 3 embryos were implanted! One more embryo reached blastocyte stage after implantation and will be frozen with the others. We have a total of 7 at 2 p and 1 blastocyte for storage. January 29, 2004-- Beta HCG levels were 164, which shows elevation. Next reading in 1 week!! February 5, 2004-- HCG is 1724! We are pregnant! February 9, 2004-- HCG levels are elevating nicely, with our numbers at 5000. We are 5 weeks 1 day, with a due date of 10/8/2004. It's an amazing and unbelievable gift. February 17, 2004-- Our first ultrasound! We had a transvaginal view, which gave us a picture of the little heart beating. Julie had a bit of a time because she dislocated her knee. ALL ligaments are relaxing due to increased hormones during pregnancy. Need to take extra special care of our mom to be! March 5, 2004-- Saw our first abdominal ultrasound. We were both afraid that we would not be able to see the baby, like when Jennifer Aniston couldn't see it in FRIENDS. Our little peanut was there for the viewing. What a ham! April 1, 2004-- Amazing experience! I'll be a fool for this child for life. May 3, 2004-- We could not have had a better Mother's day. The day after, we had another screening. Baby is well within normal ranges, and, according to the ultrasound, We are having a boy! However, ultrasounds are about 90%, so if you end up being a girl we are JUST AS HAPPY. Our next ultrasound is June 3rd. May 30, 2004-- We spent Memorial weekend in Rhode Island, and this morning, when she was resting, Julie felt Jacob. It was amazing. It wasn't until later that night that I was able to feel the little fluttering. We had learned only a few days previous that Julie has an anterior placenta. The midwife told Julie that it might be a bit longer before she would feel the baby move. I think that Julie intentionally put more padding between Jacob and the world: she is just trying to protect him (especially from pouncing cats!).
